With only weeks remaining before the ignition of fall workouts and the official beginning of preparation for the 2007-08 season, Longhorn Lacrosse is ecstatic to welcome the committed players who will add fresh and youthful talent to this year’s roster. Over thirty players plan to join the team, totaling more new talent than any previous season. Coach Noah Fink says he is especially excited about the Longhorns’ ability to recruit some out-of-state players, including Kevin Dolezal, an All-Region defender out of Westminister High in Atlanta, CJ Haynes-Dale, a defender and team captain from Riverdale High in New York City, and Brian McDonald, an All-State midfielder from Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis. As for home grown talent, Fink praised the potential of All-American attackman Spencer Branch out of St. Mark’s in Dallas and Charlie Fraser, a three-year starter at attack for Episcopal High in Houston. Jeff Talmadge, an All-District player from Greenhill in Dallas, McNeil’s (Austin) Tony Marino, and Southlake’s (Dallas) Eric Phelps will bolster the Longhorns’ ranks at midfield. All-District defenseman Jeff Winchester of Trinity High in Bedford, TX and Luke Kline, an LSM from St. Mark’s, round out the highlighted players who will look to make a strong impact in their first season at Texas. All the coaches and the veteran players cannot wait to see the newcomers challenge for playing time, and hope to strengthen the reigning LSA North champion squad’s chances at regaining the LSA Division A championship this coming year!
