UT defeats UNT in LSA North Play-in Game
Posted April 25, 2006

In their first playoff game of the season, the Longhorns achieved success with a victory over UNT, 13-4. Throughout the day, the Texas lead never wavered. Just minutes into the game, the Horns began with a goal by Eric Zissman in transition from ten yards out. With three more goals to follow, Texas earned a 4-0 lead over the Mean Green. However, with a late goal in the first by UNT, the quarter ended 4-1 in the Horns’ favor.

The remainder of the game exemplified Texas’ control of the game. The Horns were dominant in obtaining ground balls with players such as Tyler Moore picking up loose balls on the crease and quickly turning them into a goal scored for Texas. Multiple Longhorn offensive players were active in and around the crease on Saturday creating easy scoring opportunities and pushing the lead further. The Horns also played well in transition this weekend with midfielders quickly setting in to help the defense in only allowing four goals.

With a win against UNT, the Horns advance to play Texas State in Georgetown on Saturday, April 29, who they defeated one week ago, 18-7. If they are victorious against the Bobcats in the LSA semi-finals, they will take on the winner of the Texas Tech vs. Texas A&M game in the LSA Conference Finals the following day. Game times for this weekend are planned for 11:00 A.M. on Saturday and 12 noon on Sunday.
