This Easter Weekend, the Longhorns made the short drive down to San
Marcos for their final game of the regular season against the Texas
State Bobcats. Following two straight losses, the Horns had channeled
their hard week of practice toward getting back on track before heading
into the playoffs.
In the opening quarter, Texas possessed
the ball for the majority of the time. With a tweaked offensive
strategy from previous weeks, the Horns brought new movement and energy
on the field. The first quarter ended with a 6-1 favor for the
Longhorns. As the game progressed, the Horns continued to hold back any
Texas State surge while keeping the game in their hands. The Texas
defense played physically around the crease and kept the Bobcat offense
in constant discomfort. The quick moving Texas offense found many
assisted goals and eventually wore down the opposing defense. With six
goals, Evans Swann was the game’s leading scorer.
The
numbers in fact show that Swann and his teammates played an impressive
and thorough game. Back on track, Texas prepares this week for its
first post-season match-up against the University of North Texas this
Saturday in Dallas. Earlier in the season, Texas defeated UNT in a home
game, 13-4. Texas looks for another win in this rematch that would send
them to the LSA Championship the following weekend.
