AUSTIN, TX -- Not many weekends during the season are as easy as the one Texas experienced on Saturday and Sunday.
Divisional foe Tulane cancelled their trip to Austin and forfeited, so the Horns scheduled an intrasquad scrimmage
in place of the game. The forfeit was met with disdain from the Texas coaches, but ultimately gave UT players the
chance to focus on giving back to the community by mentoring at the Westwood Clinic Saturday at the IM fields
Saturday morning and on improving their personal game in the friendly, entertaining scrimmage.
The LSU Tigers showed up on Sunday as major underdogs and were simply outmanned and outmatched by the Longhorns.
Though scoring started slowly for the Horns, Texas was able to begin rotating goaltenders and backup personnel in
as early as the second quarter. Paul McCloud
had two goals and two assists, Tyler Nix
had two goals and one assist,
and Tyler Harris
and Evans Swann
each had two goals en route to a 15-2 South Division victory. Seven other Horns
scored and every player saw significant field time as UT tuned up for its LSA play-in game against Texas State
next week.
