Former players and coaches traveled en masse to Austin on March 27 for the Texas Lacrosse Alumni Weekend, as the current Longhorns played a showcase game on Saturday and then the alumni took to the field for an intrasquad scrimmage the following afternoon.
“We were happy to see so many alumni visiting and reconnecting with former teammates,” said Texas head coach Noah Fink. “We were also happy to receive so much help for our team’s endowment— with the type of support we received, we are very confidant we can reach our goal.”
Unfortunately, the Texas men lost to 15th-ranked Loyola Marymount on Saturday by the score of 12-7. It was a close game against a tough SLC opponent that came down to the final quarter of play.
Luckily, the alumni made up for the loss by putting together a solid showing on Sunday in front of a large crowd of over 200 at Whitaker Fields.
The White alumni team defeated the Orange alumni team 10-7 as former players and coaches faced off against each other instead of the current team for the first time ever.
The team would like to thank all of the alumni and fans who participated in the weekend’s events and hopes to welcome many of them back for the final game of the regular season this Saturday versus Texas A&M.
