Senior attackman Evans Swann, freshman middie Johnny McKnight and sophomore middie William Lawson all scored three goals to lead No. 22 Texas to an 11-8 victory over No. 21 San Diego State in an MCLA Division I game Tuesday night.

Senior middie Paul McCloud added two points on a goal and an assist, and senior middie Steven Brandiwie had a goal to help the Longhorns (10-2) win their second straight.

Texas finished its three-game San Diego road trip by winning two of three.

San Diego State fell to 5-3.

Texas led 10-7 late in the fourth quarter when San Diego State scored on a two-man-up opportunity with about a minute remaining in regulation to pull within two. But McKnight answered with a goal 30 seconds later to seal it for the Longhorns.

“It’s a nice way to end our road trip,” Texas head coach Noah Fink said. “We played very poorly the first game against Chapman, but we showed our resolve, came together and beat two good California teams.”
