With a large crowd on hand, the Longhorns made quick work of the
visiting St. Edward’s Hilltoppers Friday night. Controlling from the first
whistle on to the last, Texas’ defense gave up only one shot in the first half,
and only three on the game. SEU remained scoreless until late in the fourth
quarter. Texas would score early, and score often during the rout.
The Texas offense looked top notch, moving the ball and riding clears
tenaciously. Sophomore captain
Paul McCloud
led in scoring, with 5 goals to his
name. Team defense continued to show its strength, notably by not giving up a
single shot in man-down situations. Goalie
Towers Wilen
saved both of the shots
he faced. Friday night was another step in the right direction for the young
Texas team. The Longhorns will travel to Dallas Friday to face off against
conference rival Southern Methodist, a game that could prove to have huge
implications in the race for an LSA title.
